The Olympics are everywhere right now,
on the news, in the papers, on social media, around the water coolers and the TV department of electronics stores.
Although I much prefer the summer games to the winter (except for hockey … after all, I am Canadian) there is one Olympian that had my eyes glued to the TV screen when I was a kid, back during the 1980 and 1984 Olympics.
Scott Hamilton was my favorite Olympian. He always made his competitions, whether on Olympic, national or entertainment ice, look like they were all about fun. His smile glowed genuine, and the mischievous grin always made one wonder if he would (yet again) pull off that ‘illegal’ (can anyone understand the rules and scoring of figure skating?) back flip to woo the audience. He was the personification of the people’s entertainer.
When I saw the video, below, of Mr. Hamilton talking about his life, career and family I knew I had to share it today, as the guest post.

“If one of your children were hurting, wouldn’t you want him to come to you, for comfort, for strength?”
There will be the lighting of the flame, the entrance of the athletes into the stadium, the speeches, the music, the spectacle that is the opening event.
